The Blade MCX2 , this little heli came at me from left field. Never before had I purchased a micro helicopter from a hobby store before, it has always been a cheap online toy for me never spending more than 30 or so dollars on one. I just could not justify spending any more than that for a slow lumbering up, down, forward, backward, 3CH micro helicopter. Well that all changed when the holidays arrived and I received a stack of gift cards to my local hobby store. I took a trip the hobby store just to look around figuring I would be buying a couple gallons of fuel for my nitro trucks, in the process of looking around I came to the isle of small helicopters and started talking to the sales person about the differences between 3CH, 4Ch, coaxial rotor verse single, and then I noticed this and many other micro helicopters actually had a swash plate! needless to say I was shocked. Our conversation went on for quiet some time. I wont bore you with the details and to make a long story short I took a chance and purchased the Blade MCX2 you see pictured to the left. When I arrived home I unpacked the box read through the instruction manual That was written very well with diagrams explaining everything in great detail. The complete RTF (Ready to Fly ) MCX2 comes with a 120MAh battery and charger, there is a port for a wall charger but it is an optional purchase. the remote is very nice feels well built not flimsy in the least. Having this remote allows you to purchase the E-flites line of BNF (Bind and Fly) helicopter models that they offer for less money, as you know longer need the charger or transmitter. The radio system that comes with the Blade series of helicopters use spectrum technology meaning you can use any DSM2 radio you have , provided it matches the number of channels your copter needs. There was a jewelers screw driver included which is all you need to work on any part of the MCX2. In short the flight characteristics provided by the use of a swash plate and the built in gyro is remarkable. I have never flown anything so smooth and stable even in a light breeze this helicopter is easily controlled. I highly recommend anyone looking to get into the R/C helicopter hobby to start here, E-flite has set up there helicopter line in such a way that each model is a stepping stone to the next level of difficulty, before you know it you’ll be flying 3D helicopters like a pro. That said I know a lot of 3D helicopter pilots that purchase these for the fun of flying indoors and they all love them.
